Glossary... some terminology and jargon
Assessment of Current Recovery Plans and Processes- This is an evaluation of the customer’s current business continuity program and disaster recovery plans, and includes a review of all written documentation and actual practices viewed against best policies and practices. All third-party support contracts are included in this review.
Business Continuity Policy Review- A review of the policies that guide a business continuity program This review is measured by our consultants against best practices to help protect the assets, employees and customers of an organization
Business Impact Analysis (BIA)- The process of gathering information to determine the business impact of varying interruptions. Standard [process is to examine the impact of the loss of one transaction, one hour's transactions, one day's transactions, and so on. Loss may be measured by direct revenue loss, lost business, delayed business, impact on customers, regulatory compliance, and other impacts
Development of Recovery Strategy Option- Based upon the results of all the reviews including the Policy Review, BIA, Physical Threat Assessment and the Assessment of Current Recovery Plans (described in the assessment of Current Recovery Plans), a consultant will develop a range of business continuity and/or recovery strategies appropriate to the situation, with a recommendation for the most appropriate strategies. Once the desired strategies are chosen, the consultant can assist with implementation through the risk reduction design and architecture program. Speeding rapid restoration of critical communications hardware, software and other service elements needed to keep business moving after a disaster.
Organization-Wide Continuity Policies- A consultant will draft a set of policies for implementation that will support stated goals for asset protection and risk reduction. The strategies that we help develop are based upon Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs). Each identified critical area of the enterprise is evaluated to determine the most appropriate RTO for that area
Development of Continuity Plans- Continuity Design and lead or assist in documenting business continuity requirements and strategies for continuity and recovery. Areas covered can include departmental business, technology or data processing, communications and manufacturing.
